What is the food temperature danger zone?

Meet the Food Safety Warrior, our food safety mascot for kids.

In this video, our mascot’s sidekick leaves the fridge door open, and we enter the food temperature danger zone where bacteria love to party. Defend against bacteria in your fridge by keeping it cold. Check your fridge temperature is at 5°C or below.

Other food safety tips:
– Close the fridge door quickly after removing or placing food in fridge.
– Avoid overloading your fridge.
– Have a well-insulated, efficient fridge with doors seals in good condition.
– Buy a fridge thermometer from a fridge retailer, kitchenware stores or hardware stores for as little as .

Pigs In A Blanket
Servings: 18

INGREDIENTS
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
6 hot dogs
6 slices cheddar cheese

PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 425°F/220˚C.
Slice the puff pastry into 6 even rectangles.
Place a slice of cheddar on top of each puff pastry piece.
Place a hot dog on the cheddar, then roll it up.
Slice each roll into 3 even pieces, and arrange the pieces evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper with a 1-inch gap between the pieces.
Bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown and flaky.
Serve!

Jalapeño Poppers
Servings: 8

INGREDIENTS
4 jalapeños
8 slices bacon
8 ounces cream cheese, softened

PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 400°F/200˚C.
Slice the jalapeños in half, then remove the seeds by scraping out the insides.
Spread the cream cheese evenly among the jalapeño shells.
Wrap each jalapeño in bacon.
Place the bacon-wrapped jalapeños on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 20 minutes, until bacon is browned and peppers are tender.
Serve!

BBQ Chicken Tenders
Servings: 6

INGREDIENTS
1 chicken breast
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup bbq sauce

PREPARATION
Preheat oven to 375°F/190°C.
Slice the chicken into even strips.
Dip the chicken strips into the BBQ sauce, then coat them in the bread crumbs.
Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15 minutes.
Brush the remaining BBQ sauce evenly on both sides of the chicken strips and bake for another 10 minutes.
Serve!

Mozzarella Sticks
Servings: 10

INGREDIENTS
5 egg roll wrappers
10 sticks string cheese
Water
Oil, for frying
Marinara sauce

PREPARATION
Slice the egg roll wrappers in half.
Place a stick of string cheese on the edge of the egg roll wrapper, then fold the sides of the wrapper over the ends of the cheese.
Wet the other edge of the wrapper with water, then roll it up tightly, pressing the edge to make sure it’s sealed.
Repeat with the remaining wrappers and cheese.
Heat oil in a pot.
Fry the sticks until golden brown, then drain on a paper towel.
Serve with marinara!

Buffalo Ranch Meatballs:
1 bag of frozen meatballs
1 bottle of your favorite buffalo sauce
1 packet of ranch seasoning
Cook on high in crockpot for 2 hours

Corndog muffins:
Jiffy cornmuffin mix
1 egg slightly beaten
2 Tbs. melted butter
1/3 cup milk
4 hotdogs cut into 1 inch pieces
Bake at 400 degrees for 12 minutes

RECIPE #1 – Apple Oatmeal

Ingredients: ( for #1 – Apple walnut Oatmeal)
1/4 cup – oats (quick/instant)
1/2 cup – apple ( peeled, deseeded & finely chopped)
1/4 cup – walnut or almond ( powdered )
1 cup – milk
1 tsp – honey

RECIPE #2 – Baby Cereal Pancake

Ingredients: ( for #2 – Baby cereal pancake )
1/4 cup – baby cereal ( or cerelac )
1/4 cup – mashed banana
1/4 cup – water
1/2 tsp – ghee ( or butter )

RECIPE #3 – Egg Custard

Ingredients: ( for #3 – Egg Custard )
2 – eggs
400ml – milk (thick/full fat milk)
1/3 cup – sugar ( raw sugar or jaggery )
1 tsp – vanilla extract ( or 1/4 tsp vanilla paste )
1 tbsp – all purpose flour (maida) or rice flour

RECIPE #4 – Oat Pancake

Ingredients: ( for #4 – Oat Pancake )
1/2 cup – oats ( to powder )
1 tsp – oats ( to sprinkle – optional )
2 tbsp – mashed banana
1 tbsp – water
1/2 tsp – ghee ( or butter )

RECIPE #5 – Multigrain & nut mix

Ingredients: ( for Multigrain & nut mix )
1/2 cup – whole wheat
1/2 cup – Brown rice
1/2 cup – Barley
1/2 cup – Oats
1/4 cup – Almonds
1/4 cup – Walnuts
1/4 cup – Sunflower Seeds

To make breakfast porridge:
1/4 cup – water
1 cup – Milk ( thick)
2 tbsp – powdered multigrain & nut mix

1 – egg
1/2 tsp – oil
salt – pinch
pepper – pinch

For Boiled egg:
Offer half egg = for 12 – 15 months baby
Offer 1 egg = for 16 – 24 months baby

1 Bread slice ( oat or wheat or multigrain or wholemeal bread )
1/2 tsp – jam

RECIPE #8 – Semolina Kheer (porridge)

Ingredients: ( Semolina Kheer )
1 cups – milk
1/4 cup – semolina (rava/sooji)
2 tsp – raw sugar ( or jaggery )
1 cardamom ( or a pinch of cardamom powder )
2 tsp – pistachio powder or almond powder

And if you are looking to lose weight, you should never ever eat these foods. So what are these unhealthy food ingredients? Here they are:

1. Artificial Flavors
Artificial flavorings are derived from chemicals made in a laboratory and offer absolutely no nutritional value and are a magnet for processed foods. They show up in almost everything today, including bread, cereals, flavored yogurt, soups mixes, and cocktail mixers, so they can be hard to avoid.

2. Hydrogenated or Fractionated Oils
Fractionating oil is a process most often used on palm and palm kernel oil that involves heating the oil, then cooling it quickly so that it breaks up into fractions (hence the name). Hydrogenated oils are oils that are often healthy in their natural state, but are quickly turned into poisons through the manufacturing and processing they undergo. They take these naturally healthy oils such as palm, kernel, soybean, corn oil, canola oil or coconut oil and they heat it anywhere from five hundred to one thousand degrees.

3. Monosodium Glutamate (MSG)
The food additive “MSG” is a slow poison that hides behind dozens of names, such as natural flavoring, yeast extract, autolyzed yeast extract, disodium guanylate, disodium inosinate, caseinate, textured protein, hydrolyzed pea protein, and many others. Currently, labeling standards do not require MSG to be listed in the ingredient list of thousands of foods. MSG is not a nutrient, vitamin, or mineral and has no health benefits.

4. Potassium Benzoate and Sodium Benzoate
Sodium Benzoate can convert into lethal carcinogenic poison when combined with ascorbic acid. Potassium benzoate often shows up in seemingly innocuous foods such as apple cider, low-fat salad dressings, syrups, jams, olives, and pickles.

5. Artificial Coloring
Food colorings still on the market are linked with cancer. Blue 1 and 2, found in beverages, candy, baked goods, and pet food, have been linked to cancer in mice.

6. Acesulfame-K
Acesulfame-K, also known as acesulfame potassium, represents one of the food additives used for sweetening aliments and drinks. It is approved by the FDA, but there are several potential problems correlated with the consumption of this food additive. Even though there are many studies that attest to its safety, acesulfame potassium is still suspected of causing benign thyroid tumors.

7. Potassium Sorbate
As one of the most prolific preservatives in the food industry, it is difficult to find an ice cream without potassium sorbate. However, it is not only recommended to avoid this chemical, it’s a necessity to eliminate it from our foods.
Food and chemical toxicology reports have labeled potassium sorbate as a carcinogen, showing positive mutation results in the cells of mammals. Other studies have shown broad systemic and toxic effects on non-reproductive organs in animals.
