🍬 7 Clinically Proven Foods Which Lower Blood Sugar & Help Prevent & Reverse Diabetes
===============================================
Today I’m going quickly list the 7 best foods that are clinically proven to lower your blood sugar… And help prevent or even reverse your diabetes.

1 – Vegetables

There are lots of different diet — low carbs, high fat, vegetarian, mediterranean, etc. And, they all work to a certain degree.

2 – Fatty Fish

Fish is one of the healthiest foods on the planet – especially the fatty ones because they are low in heavy metals and high in essential omega-3-fatty acids

They’re also a great source of protein.

Now, they’re good for your heart and blood sugar because they reduce inflammation and blood sugar – even when eaten with carbs such as white rice.2-5

3 – Nuts
Raw nuts taste great and are good for you. They’re high in fiber, very low in carbs and contain healthy, essential fats.6-8

All of this helps reduce inflammation and lower blood sugar, A1C and Cholesterol levels.

4 – Extra-Virgin Olive Oil

Extra-virgin olive oil is extremely beneficial for heart health and blood sugar.

It contains oleic acid… This is a type of monounsaturated fat that has been shown to improve triglycerides and HDL, which are often at unhealthy levels in type 2 diabetes.

It also increase the fullness hormone, GLP-1.9 This reduces your cravings, especially for sugars.

5 – Seeds

Raw seeds such as flax, sunflower, pumpkin, hemp and sesame seeds have lots of health benefits. They’re very high in fiber and full of amazing minerals and vitamins.

They’re proven to help

Decrease your risk for heart disease 10
Improve your blood sugar levels 11
Reduce your A1C levels 11
Improve blood flow and circulation 12

6 – Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has been shown to improve insulin sensitivity and lower fasting blood sugar levels. It may also reduce blood sugar response by as much as 20% when consumed with meals containing carbs. 13-15

7 – Berries

Most people are told not to have sugar, especially fructose which is the sugar found in fruit. To a certain degree, this is correct.

So those are the 7 foods clinically proven to lower your blood sugar.

However, there’s one category even more powerful…
Herbs, Plants & Extracts

Even though today’s topic is about food… there are specific plants, herbs, spices and extracts which can have dramatically positive effects on your blood sugar — much more than food.

And if you want the truth, plants and herbs are food and probably one the most important categories of food.

And specific plants, herbs and extracts can have drug-like results, but without any of the negative side-effects.

Which, shouldn’t be surprising because most drugs, well over 50%, are actually based on plants and herbs found in nature.

The pharmaceutical companies change the original structure, patent them and make billions. Unfortunately, in the process of changing the natural structure, they also create side-effects.

Anyway, my favorite are Bitter Melon, Gymnema Sylvestre, Fenugreek, Banaba Leaf and Cinnamon Extract.18-21

Summary:
16. Excessive Urination/Urinating During the Night: Granted if you drink high amounts of water before you go to bed, there is a good chance you’re waking up in the middle of the night to urinate. But if you’re blood sugar level is too high, you could pick up a urinary tract infection which can result in excessive urinating.

15. Blurred Vision: Don’t overreact and go buy a pair of glasses if you begin to have temporary blurred vision. In most cases it’s high blood sugar, which causes the lens in the eyes to swell up.

14. Difficulty Concentrating: When the body is lacking insulin, it’s unable to remove glucose from the bloodstream into the cells. This doesn’t allow the body to properly function. This is why you feel tired and can’t concentrate properly. High blood sugar levels can dehydrate you because the body is trying to remove excess glucose through urination.

13. Dry Mouth: Because of the high glucose levels in your blood and saliva, which are caused by high blood sugar levels, your mouth becomes dry.

12. Impotence: This issue which only refers to men, stems from problems that are caused by poor long-term blood sugar control. This damages the nerves and the blood vessels.

11. Recurrent Infections: There are several recurring infections that need to be monitored. Dysfunction of the thyroid, adrenal and pituitary glands. Also watch out for numerous diseases in the pancreas and severe increase in blood glucose.

10. Slow Healing Wounds: If you find that the smallest cuts and bruises are taking longer than usual to heal, high blood sugar levels could be the cause. It affects the nerves and can lead to poor blood circulation, making it tough for blood – need for skin repair – to reach the wounded area.

9. Stomach Problems: When you have high blood sugar levels, emptying the food from your stomach could be delayed. This can lead to bloating, distention, abdominal pain, nausea, or vomiting.

8. Constant Fatigue or Extreme Tiredness: If your thyroid level is low, there is a good chance you are going to feel tired, sleepy or depressed. In order to fight infections, it takes energy, which can result in constant fatigue and high blood sugar levels.

7. Thirst: When you have high blood sugar levels, your kidneys are forced to work overtime to filter and absorb the excess sugar. In order to achieve that, liquids need to flow through the body in order to urinate the sugar.

6. Dry and Itchy Skin: When there is poor blood circulation flow through the body, it causes itchy skin. The most common areas of the body that become itchiest are the lower parts of your legs.

5. Always Hungry: You may be one of those people that have a big appetite, and that’s fine. However, for people who normally do not have a large appetite, this could be because you’re lacking a hormone called incretin. Incretin reduces the flow of sugar from the liver after consuming a meal. If you lack this hormone, food empties quicker and you’ll be hungry again shortly after dinner, which increases your blood sugar level.

4. Excess Abdominal Weight/Fat: This is one of the most common signs that you have high blood sugar levels. The food that you have consumed was not all able to get into the cells as energy which would nourish the cells, so in turn, you feel hungry again.

3. Nerve Problems: Simply put, if your blood sugar levels are high, it can damage the blood vessels that carry oxygen and nutrients to the nerves, which can lead to nerve problems.

2. Skin Changes: If you begin to experience discoloration and certain growths on your skin, your blood sugar level may be high. Also, you may notice dark, thick areas of skin may begin to form on the back of your neck and your hands as well.

1. Tingling and Numbness: This goes hand-in-hand with nerve damage. If you experience tingling and numbness in certain areas of your body, your blood sugar level may be high. This type of nerve damage is called neuropathy.

Take Dr. Berg’s Body Type Quiz: http://bit.ly/BodyTypeQuiz

Dr. Eric Berg talks about Sugar and diabetes. Sugar increases insulin which lowers the sugar in the blood and puts it in storage as fat. A healthy diet should consist of fats and moderate amount of proteins. A diabetic diet should have high quantities of fat. Sugar stimulates hunger and you carve for more food. 40 % of all heart diseases are related to excess sugar. Keeping your blood sugar levels in control is a primary objective for a healthy body.

The current recommendations for carbohydrates based on the American Diabetes Associations is 45-60 grams of carbohydrates PER MEAL!!!!! not per day, per meal.

blood sugar problems can be improved if the right foods are eaten, but overall sugars and carbs must be reduced. Fats can be increased.

Diabetes and Pregnancy Risks

Health No Comments »

It can be the happiest time of a woman’s life—but doctors say that joy can be overshadowed by a common medical condition. “It’s very common, unfortunately. As a society we are getting sicker, we are getting obese, and diabetes is on the rise,” said Dr. Ravi Chokshi, an OB/GYN with Lee Health.

Diabetes becomes even more concerning when it’s developed during pregnancy. “There are two types of diabetes during pregnancy that we worry about. One is you’re a diabetic before you became pregnant, and that is a very serious problem that we try to get control of. The other is you’re not a diabetic. You had normal blood testing before. What happens in pregnancy is the placenta that the baby relies on releases hormones that increase your blood sugar,” said Dr. Chokshi.

If the mother becomes diabetic during pregnancy, both the mother and baby are at risk for health concerns. “It actually affects the development of the baby, and it can cause heart defects and brain defects if the sugars aren’t brought under control quickly,” he said.

These concerns are why doctors are screening women for diabetes throughout their pregnancy. “We are actually instituting a policy where almost every patient is going to get some blood sugar test at the start of pregnancy to make sure we’re not missing diabetics who didn’t know they were diabetic,” said Dr. Chokshi.

If a woman is diabetic or becomes diabetic during pregnancy, doctors will help them with diet and medication, if necessary to get their blood sugar under control. “If you have diabetes during pregnancy and we don’t treat it adequately, you’re at a two to three time increased the risk for C-section; you’re at a three to four time increased risk for birth injury,” he explained.

The goal is to catch diabetes early during pregnancy to prevent health concerns for both the mother and baby—both during and after delivery.

Preventing Gestational Diabetes

Lifestyle No Comments »

From doctor’s appointments to blood tests, during pregnancy doctors make sure mothers are screened for anything that could cause health concerns to the mother and baby. “There is undiagnosed diabetes in the general population that gets picked up in pregnancy,” said Dr. Ravi Chokshi, an OB/GYN for Lee Health.

But the problem can be treated with diet changes and medication, if necessary. “There’s a misconception that I’m pregnant; I’m allowed to eat as much as I want. I‘m eating for two, and that’s not really true. The American of Congress of OBGYN actually recommends you go up by 300 calories by your second and third trimester. Most of us already overeat by 200 and 300 calories a day,” he explained.

Pregnant mothers are screened early to make sure their blood sugars are normal. “The recommendations are we screen at least everybody with a blood sugar very early in pregnancy. After that, we screen everybody after 24 weeks. The reason for that is the further pregnancy gets, the placenta gets bigger, and the hormones cause increased blood sugars,” said Dr. Chokshi.

If a mother is diabetic during pregnancy, her blood sugars are uncontrolled—that blood sugar goes to the baby, causing the baby to create more insulin. “Babies are not only bigger; they grow differently. Their bellies are bigger than their heads. Their shoulders are bigger than their heads,” he said.

Mothers who are diabetic during pregnancy are also at a higher risk of needing a C-section and developing diabetes later on in life. “If we can get your blood sugars in good control, studies show that you are going to have the same kind of pregnancy that non-diabetic moms have,” said Dr. Chokshi.

Eating a healthy diet, avoiding processed foods, and eliminating sugar can help pregnant mothers keep their blood sugar under control. All to ensure a healthy pregnancy and delivery for both mom and baby.

Treating Pre-Diabetes May Avoid Full Blown Disease

Lifestyle No Comments »

Before people develop Type 2 diabetes, they almost always have “pre-diabetes” — blood glucose levels that are higher than normal, but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. The good news is there are things you can do to prevent or delay the development of full-blown disease.

Stan Hilman was happily eating his way through life until he learned it was jeopardizing his health.

“I brought it upon myself by eating the wrong stuff and never thinking that this would catch up with me. But it does,” says Hilman.

Stan is hardly the only one. It’s estimated 79 million people, or 35 percent of the U.S. population have pre-diabetes. People poised on the brink of full-blown disease are fueling the diabetes epidemic.

“Diabetes is expected to double, as far as the prevalence, by 2050,” says Sharon Krispinski, a diabetes educator for Lee Health Solutions.

About 70 percent of pre-diabetics will eventually develop Type 2 diabetes. But new research suggests they may be able to detour the disease process through aggressive life-style changes.

“It’s healthy eating; it’s more high fiber foods, more non-starchy vegetables, lean protein. And it’s exercise,” says Krispinski.

“When they told me that I was pre-diabetic, I attended classes with Lee Memorial and found out what things are proper to eat and things to stay away from,” says Hilman.

“We emphasize to our patients that even with a modest weight loss, a 5 to 10 percent weight loss, they can significantly improve their blood sugar,” says Krispinski.

Doctors can use three different tests to tell if you have pre-diabetes: the AIC test, the fasting plasma glucose test (FPG) or oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). It put Stan on a path to wellness.

“I want to be healthy,” says Hilman.
